It’s been a while!
So it has been quite a while since I have updated this blog! Trying to transition to my new life, longer hours, etc.
I did (a few months later than desired) finish editing the video for the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Missouri the other day. I will attach it below. It’s just an overview video of their biggest fundraiser of the year. If you scroll down you will see I did the same event last year.
I will be participating in the 100 hour film race next weekend so look out for some updated about my progress and a link to the video when it is done!
In the meantime, I need to finish editing “Sweet Treat” and get ready for a 10 day trip back to MO.
Chicago here I am!
So as of yesterday I am now a resident of Chicago, IL. It was hard to leave my job, coworkers and friends in como but could not pass up this opportunity. Excited to have a new job, be in a bigger city and have more opportunities to produce some videos. The mid-missouri market was pretty stale…
Once I get settled I will start the networking process to find some like minded individuals. Looking to get into music video production. Also looking to produce some more videos for About.com. Currently working on the script for “How to Print Digital Photos,” a video that will show different ways to print digital photos along with the cost differences.
If you are in the Chicago area or know someone who is that is interested in Video Production let me know!!
New book promo video
It’s been a while since I have posted on here but plan on getting back into the swing of things. Recently finished a video for a friend promoting a book. It’d actually the third book promo video I have created, I may be creating a niche for myself.
The book is about the current status of the North American Grassland Grouse. It features stunning images from a great nature photographer I have the privilege of knowing.
You can view the video here:
Let me know what you think!
I am speaking at a conference!
Thats right, I will be presenting at the DevLearn 2010 eLearning Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
My session is titled “Creating High-quality Low-budget Video for eLearning.” My presentation is pretty much already done and should be a good time. We will actually create a video during the session as long as we have some good volunteers in the audience. I just hope people choose to attend it!! Leo Laporte “The Tech Guy” attended this conference last year so I hope he does again and comes to my session!
Worst case I get a nice trip to San Fran out of it.
New TV Shows
There are too many new TV shows this Fall to keep up with! I like to watch the pilot for many of the new shows so I can then decide if there is anything worth watching. I would like to say that this would not be at all possible without DVR. Hats off to the guy/gal who invented it. I would have missed out on a lot of good Television without it!
The new fall pilots have I have caught so far are….
The Event
Running Wilde
Boardwalk Empire
Outsourced
Undercovers
There are a couple more shows I may try and jump into as well (No Ordinary Family, Chase, Raising Hope). Hopefully only one or two of these shows are worth watching since I already have a long list of TV series that I follow regularly. At this point Undercovers and Boardwalk Empire seem to be pretty good. One being a little slow paced (BE) and the other a little cheesy and predictable but you can’t judge a TV show by its Pilot…. although that’s what its for right?
New Projects!
Just in case you are wondering what I have been doing…. editing!
I am working on editing my first short film, a couple “how to” videos for About.com, some instructional videos for my full-time job and some real estate virtual tour videos.
On top of that I am preparing to shoot a wedding in Kansas City on Saturday, then photography for a family reunion the following weekend once again in KC. On top of that I am designing two websites which I then have to program as well. Oh, I forgot to mention that I am shooting and editing videos at my day job too.
So needless to say I have been busy lately.
“Sweet Treat” Production is done!
Over the weekend I finished shooting for my first short “Sweet Treat.” We started on Friday around 5pm and finished up around 9:30. Then on Sunday we shot the last scene (attempting to dodge the rain). I think it should come out pretty well. It will probably take me a couple weeks before I have a rough cut. One thing that is holding me back is that I need to finish editing my “How to Build a Camera Dolly” video for About.com.
Short film production
I am starting work on the production of a short film. It is a horror short with a little humor.
I wrote the script and now I am working on the storyboards and casting. I plan on making several posts during the process so stay tuned!
Better Brunch Video coming soon!
A while back I helped a friend out with a project and shot a short cooking video. Need to render it to a reasonable size and post it.
Breaking Bad (AMC Show)
I hear Breaking Bad is a great show. I have been looking for Season 1 on DVD and it seems to be sold out everywhere! Looks like I will either have to download it from iTunes or add it to my Netflix queue. Target, Walmart and Best Buy are all sold out…. it must be great!
